Commonwealth - Ann Patchett 3.5 stars

This story switches around between different time periods within the lives of the members of the two families. It actually took me a little time and effort to get it straight who was related by blood because they are all so connected that it's really like one big family. There are divorces, deaths, fun times, life changes, moves, legal issues, careers and basically everything that life is. It tells about the children of the families as kids exploring the world and as adults finding their places in it, and there are portions about the parents middle aged to elderly. I thought the death of the one boy was pretty sad after I found out the details. I didn't feel like their was a real message from the story. It does make the reader think about life overall and the focal points that change everything.
