The Beast

The Beast - Jaden Wilkes I love a dark character usually. When I started this one I was very pretty interested in the beginning. Then it seemed to venture to silly. Also some of the same scenes in different POV were repetitive. But closer to the end, it really picked up for me. I read somewhere that it had been banned on Amazon. I don't know why. I've definitely read worse darker material. I'm sure it's too much for many though. I also want to point out that the guy in this book isn't totally evil. Even though he is definitely dark, he has many redeeming qualities.

A lot of the book involved twisted types of sexual arousal. It had some awesomely legit quotes about it.

"Think of it this way, human desires, lust, they are a destination, you arrive at what turns you on eventually..be it wearing a latex body suit and being fucked up the ass, or laying under your husband in the dark, waiting for him to finish. Which of these is normal?"

and another great one

No matter how damaged we were by our lives, we are whole when we are together. No matter how we got here, the thing that makes us normal is exactly what we decided together."

It had a pretty kickass ending in my opinion, kinda movie-ish.

They could be any couple on any street in any city in the world. Except that they weren't. They were twisted and dark and scarred and damaged..but they were perfectly normal and perfect for each other.

It does deal with a lot of "trigger issues" cutting, sexual abuse from a family member, hitting a woman, etc.
